$1, OSCAR AWARD SELLING RULE:

·       According to AMPAS rules, anyone who wins an Oscar is given ownership of the statuette, but they are not allowed to sell it without first offering it back to the Academy for $1. This rule is designed to prevent the commercialization and exploitation of the Oscar brand, as well as to maintain the integrity and exclusivity of the awards.

·       In addition, AMPAS has rules prohibiting the manufacture or sale of replica Oscar statuettes, as well as rules prohibiting the public display of Oscars for commercial purposes, unless permission has been granted by the Academy.

·       Violating these rules can result in legal action by AMPAS, including the revocation of membership or legal action for trademark infringement.

The Oscars are held annually in Hollywood, California, usually in late February or early March. The ceremony features red carpet arrivals, musical performances, and of course, the presentation of the awards themselves. Winning an Oscar is considered a great honor and is often a career-defining moment for filmmakers and actors.
