PAN CARD:

A PAN card (Permanent Account Number card) is a 10-digit alphanumeric identification number issued by the Income Tax Department of India. It serves as a proof of identity and is mandatory for financial transactions such as filing income tax returns, opening a bank account, and for transactions above a certain value. The PAN card is unique to each individual and is linked to all financial transactions. It is mandatory to quote PAN on returns, all correspondence with any income tax authority, and for making an application for various licenses/permits.

AADHAAR CARD:

Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Indian government to every individual resident of India. It serves as a proof of identity and address, and is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

Aadhaar card contains personal information such as the individual's name, date of birth, photograph, address, and a unique 12-digit Aadhaar number. It is linked to the individual's biometric information, such as fingerprints and iris scans, to prevent duplication or fraud.

Aadhaar is now mandatory for a variety of services and benefits in India, including opening a bank account, receiving government subsidies, and for filing income tax returns. It is also used as a valid form of identification for many other purposes, like getting a new SIM card, passport, driving license and more.
